Dr. Sam Gillespie grew up an hour southeast of Omaha in Red Oak, IA, and was introduced to the audiology profession in high school during an entrepreneurship class. He was able to work with an audiologist in the area who showed Dr. Gillespie the importance of hearing healthcare. Both of Dr. Gillespie’s grandfathers suffered from hearing loss and he saw firsthand the impact this had on family interactions and their overall quality of life. While attending the University of Iowa, Dr. Gillespie took classes in Speech and Hearing Sciences to prepare for an eventual Doctor of Audiology degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center.
After graduating, Dr. Gillespie joined Associated Audiologists, Inc. in their Prairie Village, KS location and went on to manage the Manhattan, KS clinic. Working with a team of skilled audiologists, he was able to learn and grow as a clinician specializing in treating hearing loss and tinnitus.
As an audiologist, Dr. Gillespie is held to the highest standards in the industry to treat patients and provide solutions for their hearing health care. This profession allows him to significantly impact the quality of life of his patients and families.

Advanced Audiology of Greater Omaha specializes in the following services:
Hearing loss, ringing in the ears and sound sensitivity are all reasons to talk to a professional audiologist. It is best to get checked and not wait.
Our first step is to evaluate your hearing health and medical history and understand the concerns you have. We will ask about your history of noise exposure, dizziness, allergies, ear infections and even history of earwax, as these can all impact our hearing. This helps in diagnosing the specific cause of your hearing loss, tinnitus or other audiological disorder, as there are many reasons that these can occur.
We will also review and discuss the individual symptoms you are experiencing and how they are impacting your daily life. Things such as lifestyle, types of work, hobbies and social situations that are important to you are important in prescribing a unique plan for hearing healthcare intervention.
We will then perform a hearing test. Our hearing tests are painless and take place in our soundproof audiometric booth. You will wear headphones or soft earplugs and will be asked to listen to tones at different pitches and volumes and respond when you hear them. The test measures the very softest sounds you can hear at each frequency tested. Speech testing includes finding the very softest words you can repeat back correctly, as well as testing your word understanding ability at a level above your threshold.
If necessary, our audiologist will perform non-invasive testing of your middle ear system to see how well your eardrum is moving and transmitting sounds to the inner ear as well as testing how well the muscles in your middle ear are responding.
Our audiologist will go over the exam and results with you and describe how and why the type and degree of hearing loss may impact you in different situations and environments. Next, our audiologist will be able to determine a plan with you for treatment moving forward which can include prevention of further hearing loss, use of hearing devices, (hearing aids, assistive listening devices, etc.) or medical intervention.
We are currently contracted with Medicare and most major health insurances. While not all insurance plans have a benefit for hearing aids, we will always check for you and help you understand benefits that may be utilized. Medicare will help pay for one diagnostic hearing evaluation in a patient’s lifetime with a physician’s order.
Hearing aids and other assistive devices come in a wide price range. We offer financing options to assist patients with payments. Our team is always available to help with specific questions, so please let us know if you would like to discuss your options.
